In our hotel, we have created a unique environment where Astrid Lindgren's characters come to life in her own upbringing. Each room tells a story and is adorned with pictures of beloved characters. In the corridors there are installations, the restaurant is adorned with friezes with all the characters, and specially commissioned paintings enhance the experience. Here, the fairy tales become part of reality.

Karaktershotellet, unique hotel for Vimmerby
Visitors to Astrid Lindgren's World are happy to stay at the Character Hotel in Vimmerby.
It is a hotel built by a family who found "a third leg" for their visit to Vimmerby.
Astrid Lindgren's stories were one leg (ALV), her childhood home and writing the other leg (Näs) – the third leg became the story of those who lived contemporarily with her in Vimmerby; The character hotel.
Unique hotel in Vimmerby and the world
The hotel that tells the story – that text on the entrance mat meets the guests – and the hotel does justice to the name. Each room tells the story of a person, a contemporary of Astrid or someone she heard being told about at home in the kitchen in Näs.
While working on all these stories, which have since also become two books, it was found that Astrid's own characters in many cases were inspired by the then living Vimmerby residents.
